We are the Backlashers Bass Club of Kansas City. We are members of B.A.S.S. and Kansas B.A.S.S. Federation Nation (KBFN).
Backlashers was started in 1987 as the Bonner Springs Bass Club and has grown from its 6 original members to its current status of 37 members. We host 10 club events each year along with an end of the year classic. Our club competes in a Boater/Non-Boater style format. We have Boaters competing against each other, and Non-boaters competing against one another at the same time for cash and prizes, as well as points. The points leader at the end of the year then represents the club at the Mr. Bass championship the following year.
Backlashers Bass Club is also very active in the community. We host a benefit tournament each year to raise money for a nonprofit organization called Veteran Outdoors. The money raised each year goes towards taking our wounded war veterans on hunting and fishing trips of a lifetime. In 2010 the “Heartland Warriors Benefit Bass Tournament” raised $4700 to aid in honoring these true American heroes.
Members in our club take fishing very seriously. Competing against each other is only a small part of what our club is about. Conservation of our resources is one of the biggest concerns throughout the club. Through catch and release, careful handling of fish, and cleanliness at our tournament sites, we are doing our part to ensure preservation of our natural resources. Backlashers was founded on values of family and camaraderie, these values are still present today which makes our club one of the finest in the midwest. If you have a big boat, small boat or no boat at all it doesn’t matter to us, come join one of the largest bass clubs in the area for some friendly competition and fellowship.
